Awami League Acting General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif.A day after one of BNP’s six MPs-elect was sworn in as Member of Parliament, ruling Awami League leader Mahbubul Alam Hanif urged rest of the polls winners to take oath.
“People will never vote for BNP if they don’t come to the House. Those who have been elected should take oath by Apr 30 to honour the people’s verdict,” the acting general secretary of the ruling party said on Friday (Apr 26).
His remarks came at a reception ceremony for the party’s four female MPs at the party’s central office in the capital’s Bangabandhu Avenue.
“Militancy, which was created in this country by the patronisation of BNP-Jamaat alliance, has been demolished by the ruling government,” he said before claiming that the BNP and their allies do not practice politics for people’s welfare rather they tried to extend their reign through supporting militancy and terrorism.
Taking a swipe at the BNP secretary general, Hanif said, “Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir uses democracy in every statement however, he is reluctant to join the parliament.”
