BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. File PhotoIt is inhuman to move BNP chief Khaleda Zia to the Keraniganj prison which is still under construction, said the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
“The construction of Keraniganj prison isn’t complete yet. There are no proper gas-water services there,” he told the media on Thursday (Mar 28) at the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan.
On Wednesday, the home minister said that Khaleda will be transferred to the new prisons in Keraniganj from the old jailhouse “whenever necessary” as the government was planning to build a museum at her current facility.
Saying that the ruling Awami League has no respect or sympathy for the opposition, Rizvi added, “It’s pointless to accept humanity from those whose government agendas solely include taking out the opposition and democracy.”
Addressing the government, Rizvi said, “Stop the increasing torture on Khaleda Zia. Stop all the political trickery with her.”
He then called for her release to make way for her proper treatment.
Rizvi reiterated that Khaleda’s health condition has taken a risky turn and she is being forced to stay at the unhealthy and abandoned prison for political vendetta.
He said that the government was “slowly killing her by imprisoning her.”
