The undated photos shows Road Transport Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader speaking at a programme in Dhaka. FILE PHOTORuling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has the results of the election will be affected wherever public opinion is strong enough.
"The history of elections says those who boycott polls are isolated from the people,” he said at a news conference in Dhaka on Saturday (Mar 2).
Referring to a remark of Jatiya Oikya Front Convener Dr Kamal Hossain, Quader said, “They have been engaging in a politics of trickery and destruction. Their destruction politics move one step ahead towards the path of devastation.
"I’m telling the BNP the same thing. If public opinion was in their favour in the last national election, then the results would have seen the impact,” he said.
Quader’s comments came in response to the remarks by Dr Kamal who claimed that the ruling AL has established a dictatorship.
On Upazila polls, the senior AL leader said, "I do not think that the Upazila election will be absolutely perfect. Perfect is a different matter.
“It's not right to call anything perfect. There will be mistakes and errors and we move forward in recognition of the mistakes,” said Quader, who is the road transport minister.
