The BDR mutiny was a conspiracy to destroy the security of the country, remarked BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“57 military personnel had to pay with their lives,” he told the media on Monday (Feb 25) after paying respect at the Pilkhana carnage victims’ memorial.
Fakhrul alleged that the mass killing was carried was carried out to break the military’s confidence and that the day was a shameful one in the nation’s history.
“The reason behind the killing has to be unearthed and a fair probe must be carried out,” he said.
“The full reports on any of the probes carried out over the killings have not been published. Especially the one carried out by the army,” he said and added that this naturally leaves some questions on people’s mind about who the perpetrators were.
The senior BNP leader said that the day should serve as a reminder for people to restore democracy in the country.
