File photo shows Awami League Presidium member and 14-Party Alliance spokesperson Mohammad Nasim. The members of Awami League-led (AL) 14-party Alliance may be included in the Cabinet during a reshuffle in future, says its spokesperson AL Presidium member Mohammad Nasim.
Nasim’s remarks came a day after the formation of 46-member Cabinet, led by Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina, on Monday (Jan 7).
Hasina formed the cabinet exclusively with the members of her own party, raising speculation over why there was no one from the Alliance’s partners.
The last Cabinet had at several members from the allies.
They were Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Water Resources Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State Minister for Local Government Mashiur Rahman Ranga and State Minister for Labour Mujibul Haque Chunnu.
Speaking to the reporters at Dhaka’s Officers’ Club on Tuesday (Jan 8), Nasim said, “Since the formation of the 14-party Alliance, its partners have played role all together on different movement.
When the Cabinet will be reshuffled in the next time, the prime minister will, of course, think positively to include its members from the allies,” he said.
Nasim, who is the former health minister, termed Hasina as the ‘guardian of the country’.
“So, she (Hasina) will go with all the allies,’ Nasim said.
