Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that they will walk in the footsteps of deceased public administration minister and his predecessor Syed Ashraful Islam.
His remarks came on Friday (Dec 4), after the party leaders paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s statue at Dhanmondi 32
Grieving the AL leader’s demise, Quader said, that his loss is an irrevocable one.
Saying that Ashraf was beside the successors of Sheikh Mujib during the worst of times, he added, “He was there beside our leader Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana during trying times in London.”
Reminiscing about Ashraf’s stint as the party’s general secretary for two terms, he said that the deceased leader through his undying commitment iron-handedly organized the party during trying times.
“He was accepted everywhere as a clean politician,” Quader said adding that Ashraf’s popularity stretched well beyond the party’s boundaries.
