Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was briefing the media after emerging from a dialogue between the Awami-led 14-party Alliance and the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) at Ganabhaban on Tuesday night.

The BNP has put on a show in the name of participating in the polls, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“They just wanted to put on a show for the world and make the polls questionable,” he told the media on Tuesday (Jan 1).
He said that the opposition had not prepared at all to take part in the polls.
“I was surprised to see that such a heavyweight party as BNP has no organizational structure,” Quader said, adding, the reason BNP had failed to carry their campaigns was due to weak organization.
Quader said that the party’s weak structure had come in the way of BNP providing polling agents for their heavyweight candidates.
“What do no poster and banner mean? How will they take part in the polls if they accept defeat even before the elections? They were not at all prepared.”
Saying that he had not expected such victory against Moudud Ahmed, he added, “I thought he would be there, his agents will be there. The vote margin would not have been so wide then.”
The Noakhali-5 winner called on Jatiya Oikya Front leaders to accept the people’s mandate and take their oaths as members of parliament.
“I’m still hoping that they will not disrespect the people’s mandate,” Quader said and added that they had been elected by the people.
Responding to queries about BNP’s announcement of protesting the polls outcome, Quader said that they have neither the objective nor subjective condition to take carry out protests.
He added that BNP leaders lack spirit. “If they were prepared then they would have taken out a procession right then. There is no chance that BNP can build up a protest.”
Quader said that materialising the manifesto pledges will be the biggest challenge for the new government.
On the HM Ershad led Jatiya Party taking on the role of opposition in the parliament whether any of their leaders will be in the cabinet, he said that a definite decision will be taken after discussions with the AL allies.
