Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the new government may be formed by Jan 10.
He made the comment on Tuesday (Jan 1) after laying a wreath at the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Within two days, the election results will be published as gazette following which, MP’s will be sworn in, Quader said and added, “Then the PM will meet the president who will ask her to form government as winner of the elections.”
“If BNP and Oikya Front elected members do not take oath then as per constitution, fresh votes will be held in those areas,” he observed.
If the elected ones from Oikya Front take oath then we shall welcome them, said the veteran AL leader.
He also said that this election has given an idea about organisational weaknesses.
“We shall overcome them and work in full steam in 2019.”
Addressing workers and leaders of the party he said, “They have to work with patience and tolerance and refrain from being vengeful.”
