Khelafat Majlish has demanded suspension and rescheduling of 11th National Elections saying that the vote has been rigged.
“The incumbent government will have to step down at the face of widespread protest from angry masses,” the party’s Ameer Mowlana Mohammad Ishaq warned.
On Sunday (Dec 30), when the national elections were held from 8 am to 4 pm, Khelafat Majlish released a media statement demanding polls rescheduling.
“We strongly condemn the widespread vote snatching, rule breaking and violence in the name of elections,” the statement read.
The party in its statement wrote that Khelafat Majlish and Oikya Front polling agents were beaten out of the centres and arrested and the ruling party activists illegally occupied the voting centres stamping ballots on behalf of ‘boat.’
“The Election Commission shamelessly took the government’s side and the police and administration took part in the blatant rule breaking.”
Mowlana Ishaq said that the election was a farcical one and deprived the people of their right to vote.
He added that a government formed out of a forceful election such as this one can never be termed a democratic one.
