BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was at a media briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan offices on Tuesday (June 5, 2018). FILE PHOTOBangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has compared returning officers with cruel step mothers.
He made the comment on Tuesday (Dec 4) at a press conference held at the party’s Naya Paltan office.
“As per orders from government, nominations of BNP candidates were rescinded en masse while the nomination papers of those from the ruling party were not cancelled despite having countless flaws,” alleged Rizvi.
The returning officer of Brahmanbaria, Hayat ut Doula Khan did not even give any chance for the candidates to speak, added the BNP politician.
“People are apprehensive and concerned over the current Election Commission, biased activities of the law enforcing agencies and the partisan conduct of voting officials.”
Calling the actions of EC controlled returning officers as travesty, he said, “There is a country wide uncertainty about democracy in relation to the forthcoming election.”
