“The names will be probably announced on Monday,” National Standing Committee member Mahbubur Rahman told Bangla Tribune on Sunday (Nov 24).
BNP chief’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan echoed.
According to people familiar with the matter, the process to hand over confirmation letters will kick-off around 4pm on Monday at the party chief’s Gulshan offices.
“It’s likely that names of candidates in 300 seats will be announced. Aspirants in the constituencies, which will be shared with the allies, will be instructed to withdraw their nominations,” Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu told Bangla Tribune.
Sources at the BNP said that no one will be nominated in more than one seat, except for Chairperson Khaleda Zia. The screening panel is focused on the candidates who ran on the party’s ticket in the 2001 and 2008 elections, according to them.
