‘AL will win landslide victory in upcoming polls.’ FILE PHOTOA senior leader of ruling Awami League has said his party will secure a landslide victory in the 11th Parliamentary Election slated for Dec 30.
“If we count the numbers (of parliamentary seats), we can say our party (AL) and the (14-party) Alliance will win a landslide victory in the upcoming polls,” AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Friday (Nov 22).
Speaking to the media at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi offices, Quader said, “We don’t want to believe in any number theory.
“People of the country will determine how many seats a party will win,” he added.
On the Nov 14 clash in front of BNP headquarters, Quader said, “BNP’s showdown is limited to its headquarters, not all over the country.
“If BNP leaders dream of power it will be broken on Dec 30,” he said.
Quader, however, dismissed the claim on BNP leader facing harassment ahead of the polls saying, “If people do not favour the party no mechanism of administration and establishment will work.”
He feared that BNP may carry out the sabotage acts ahead of the polls as the party did during the 2014 national election.
The senior AL leader hinted at sharing of parliamentary seats between 65 and 70 among the partners of AL-led 14-party Alliance in the upcoming polls.
“We verbally finalized the seat distributions. You (journalists) will get the details after the formal announcement,” said Quader, who is the road transport minister.
