BNP acting chief Tarique Rahman has joined the screening process of ticket seekers through video conference from London again on the last day of the party’s nomination interview.
On Wednesday (Nov 21), aspirants from Faridpur and Tangail constituencies are being interviewed at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.
“The chairman has directed us to be united and support whoever the party nominates,” BNP Vice Chairman AZM Jahid told Bangla Tribune.
On the other hand, BNP activists have complained that the government has disconnected internet services in the Gulshan area.
So far almost 2000 BNP aspirants have been interviewed for the 300 constituencies since the interviews started on Nov 18.
Tarique Rahman, who has been given life sentence in the Aug 21 grenade attack case, has been a fugitive for almost a decade.
The BNP acting chief interviewing the aspirants for the polls slated for Dec 30 has been met with heavy criticism from the ruling Awami League.
However, the Election Commission said it has nothing to do over him joining the screening process as the electoral code of conduct does not apply to him due to his residence abroad.
