Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOThe ruling Awami League says it will share between 65 and 70 seats with its allies in the upcoming general election.
“The nomination process is nearly completed, which is expected to be announced on Nov 25,” General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Tuesday.
He said the Awami League proposed its partners to give suitable candidates, who are likely to win, for their constituencies.
Speaking to the media after a meeting with Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla at his Secretariat offices, he said that party chief Sheikh Hasina will contest from two constituencies— Gopalganj’s Tungipara and Rangpur’s Pirganj.
Asked about BNP leader Tarique Rahman’s video conferencing, Quader said the Election Commission rightly pointed out that the RPO does not stipulate taking actions on this specific issue. “The home ministry can investigate the issue whether it constitutes cyber crime or not.”
Responding to another query, he said the preparation of party’s election manifesto has been completed and it will be shared very shortly.
On his meeting with the Indian envoy, Quader said India is hopeful that a good election in a fair and peaceful environment with the participation of all will be held.
