Ensure minorities' security, 14-party to EC

Ruling Awami League-led 14-party Alliance has called on the Election Commission to ensure security for minority community during the upcoming national polls.

The coalition’s spokesperson Mohammad Nasim made the call on Tuesday (Nov 20) during a meeting with Bangladesh Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council at the Awami League headquarters in the capital.

He said, “We want to request the election commission to ensure security for the minority community as an evil quarter want to harm them. They want to incite fear in the community.”

Nasim also called on the law enforcement agencies to ensure protect the minorities and warned that no negligence will be tolerated.

When asked if any such request was made from the Unity Council, Nasim said, “They said that they regularly get threats. Besides, we decided to call on strengthening their securing from our standpoint as well.”

“We called on EC to ensure security for the minorities. We requested to enforce it without delay,” added the health minister.
