AL parliamentary board meets to finalize nomination

Party flag of Awami LeagueAwami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met with the party’s parliamentary board to finalize the nominations for the upcoming national elections slated for Dec 30.
This is the first time the AL’s parliamentary board sat for a meeting since the nomination form collection ended on Nov 12.
The meeting took place on Thursday (Nov 15), at the party chief’s Dhanmondi offices where the security was tightened before her arrival.
The previous day Sheikh Hasina interviewed AL nomination seekers at her official residence, Ganobhaban.
The interview was initially scheduled to take place at the Dhamnondi offices but the venue was shifted given the large number of aspirants.
Two new members, namely Ramesh Chandra Sen, Dr Abdur Razzak and Col Faruq Khan (Retd) have been elected as the new members of the parliamentary board.
Over 4,000 AL aspirants have collected nomination forms to contest the polls in the 300 constituencies under the electoral symbol of “boat.”
