BNP might not contest the polls after the clash at Naya Paltan, said Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad.
“It’s well and good if BNP contests the polls. Otherwise, Japa will vie for all 300 constituencies,” he told the media on Thursday (Nov 15).
The former military dictator added that although there have been no talks about a coalition, if BNP does decide to contest the polls then they will run for the polls in a coalition.
“We hope to get the expected number of constituencies even if we contest the polls in a coalition.”
He also said that the nominations will be finalized after the meeting of the party’s parliamentary board on Nov 17 and 18, adding, “Our party leaders are looking forward to the polls.”
“The sale of almost 2500 nomination forms is a positive sign for Japa,” the special envoy to the prime minister added.
