BNP`s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. File PhotoBangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has questioned the legality of Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina’s usage of the state owned Ganobhaban for meeting around 4500 Awami League (AL) nomination seekers.
“The meet between the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and AL nomination seekers at the Ganobhaban is a breach of electoral code 14 (2). That law clearly states that state facilities cannot be used for electoral activities.”
The BNP politician made the comments on Thursday (Nov 15) at the Naya Paltan office.
“While it’s important for the submission of legal weapons and recovery of illegal ones, the election commission is silent on the matter.”
Regarding violence and clashes in front of the BNP office, he said, “The incident was triggered by a police car which was ploughed through the nomination seekers gathered.”
The vandals wearing helmets acted under the protection of city AL leader, he alleged.
