A new Islamist coalition of seven parties, led by Bangladesh Kheafat Andalon (faction) chief Maulana Zafrullah, has been launched.
Zafrullah announced the formation of ‘Sammilito Islami Oikyajote at a media conference in the city’s Paltan on Saturday (Nov 3).
Besides Kheafat Andalon, the six other parties are Bangladesh Janaseba Andolon, Islamic Movement Bangladesh, Liberal Party, Islamic Democratic Forum, National Ulama Front, and Bangladesh Muslim Janata Party.
Briefing the media, Zafrullah declared himself as the coalition’s ‘elected chairman’ and announced Islamic Movement chief Mohamamd Khairul Hasan as its secretary general.
“The collation will run its activities based on the spirit of the Liberation War and Islamic inspiration,” he said.
Citing they have been invited by other political collations to join them, Zafrullah said, “Decision (to ally with others) will be taken in future.”
The new collation, however, has a plan to write to the Prime Minister for talks.
On the collation’s plan on the next general polls, Zafrullah said, “They will try to contest in all 300 parliamentary seats if congenital atmosphere prevails.”
