Left Democratic Alliance, the coalition floated in July, has sent a letter to Awami League (AL) seeking time for talks with the AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

On behalf of the alliance, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) leader Ruhul Hossain Prince took the letter to AL president’s Dhanmondi political office on Thursday, reports BSS.

AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap received the letter signed by Left Democratic Alliance Coordinator Saiful Haque.

The letter said that a 16-member delegation will meet the Awami League chief if they are invited for talks.

On Wednesday (Oct 31), Saiful Haque told Bangla Tribune that the Awami League had reached out to them to invite them for talks.

“I told them we will let them know after the coalition’s meeting on Thursday,” he said.

In July this year, eight leftist parties, including the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BaSaD) and Ganasanghati Andolan, floated the new alliance with an eye on the parliamentary elections.

The other parties in the Left bloc are the Biplobi Workers Party or Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh (RWPB), the BaSaD (Marxist), the United Communist League of Bangladesh, Ganatantrik Biplobi Party and Samajtantrik Andolan.
