Former BNP leader Shamser Mobin Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury joined the AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury-led Bikalpa Dhara party on Friday (Oct 26).
Former Chatradal leader Golam Sarowar and former minister Nazim Uddin Al Azad also joined the party along with Chowdhury, who served as the foreign secretary between 2001 and 2005 during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government.
Chowdhury, a former ambassador to the United States, joined BNP in 2008 and was made a vice chairman in the next year.
Back in 2015, he was arrested during the BNP-led alliance’s non-stop blockade and later released on bail.
Prior to this, they attended a programme of the party’s front body Bikalpa Juba Dhara. Secretary General of Bikalpa Dhara Mahi B Chowdhury welcomed them to the stage there.
“Let’s save Bangladesh and start a new journey under Badruddoza Chowdhury’s leadership,” said Mahi.
Chairman of NAP Bangladesh Jebel Rahman Gani who recently quit the 20-party Alliance led by BNP was present.
