Chattaogram Metropolitan Police has cleared the newly floated anti-government alliance Jatiya Oikya Front to hold its rally in the port city on Oct 27 (Saturday).
“We received the clearance to hold the rally in front of BNP office next to the Chatttogram stadium,” Coordinator of the Alliance’s Central Committee Moshtak Ahmed told Bangla Tribune on Friday (Oct 26).
Earlier, the alliance sought permission to hold rally in the port city’s Laldighi Maidan, which they were denied.
Oikya Front’s Dr Kamal Hossain and BNP Secretary General along with other senior leaders are expected to attend the rally.
The gathering in Chattaogram will be the alliance’s second rally with the first one was held in Sylhet on Oct 24.On Oct 13, BNP together with Dr Kama Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Nagorik Oikya launched the new alliance to press for their seven-point demand and 11 visions, including holding the next election under a non-party administration.
