He made the comments on Friday at a discussion held at the National Press Club.
Terming the current government ‘autocratic’, he said: “This government does not want to lose power because they want to protect their illegally accumulated wealth.”
Barrister Moudud also stressed that without a national unity, the government cannot be removed.
“They (AL) know that if there is a fair election, they will lose and therefore, want to keep the opposition party away from polls.”
They are making a mistake, this conspiracy will not work, he contended.
Lamenting that bail petitions are deliberately being delayed, the senior BNP leader deplored: “The lower courts are being controlled by the government.”
