The ultimatum of Dr Kamal Hossain led ‘Jatiya Oikkya Prokriya’ expires on Sunday, 30 September. Form the citizens’ platform, a call was made to the government to accept demands after talking to the political parties by the stipulated date.
However, on the last day of the ultimatum, the convener of the process, Dr. Kamal Hossain, is not in the country while all the other leaders of the AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury led Juktafront are set to attend a blood donation programme.
During the Sept 22 rally, a call was made by Dr Kamal Hossain to the government to discuss the formation of election-time administration and reformation of the election commission.
Declarations to form a committee named Jatiya Oikya and countrywide rallies and congregations were also made during the rally.
However, with Dr. Kamal Hossain in Thailand for medical treatment, no signs of forming a committee have been seen so far.
Meanwhile, Juktafront leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna, said that “The demand was made from Jatiya Oikko Porkriya, not from us.”
“We will hold a human chain in front of the press club on Oct 7 next; a new programme may be declared at that time,” Oikko Proriya’s member secretary, Mostafa Amin, told Bangla Tribune
Meanwhile, Gono Forum’s Dr. Kamal may come back on 6 or 7 October.
Press secretary of Badruddoza Chowdhury, Jahangir Alam, told Bangla Tribune “Professor A Q M Badruddoza Chowdhury, JSD presidentA S M Abdur Rab and Nagorik Oikko’s Mahmudur Rahman Manna will be present at a voluntary blood donation event arranged by Projonmo Bangladesh as chief guest and special guests respectively.
