BNP working on polls-time govt outline

Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has also given his feedback on the draft.As the 11th parliamentary election nears, the BNP is now working to unveil its outline for a polls-time administration, which according to party policymakers will be announced next month.
Pro-BNP intellectuals have already drafted an outline and forwarded it to the party’s policymaking forum, the National Standing Committee, according to people familiar with matter.
They said that acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has also given his feedback on the draft.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed of the initiative, but said, “It’s not possible to say the specific date (for announcing it).”
A Standing Committee member, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Bangla Tribune, “A meeting of the Committe is slated for Oct 19 to discuss on the draft and other parties’ demands on an election-time government.”
On how a polls-time administration can be formed, BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar said, “It can be formed under the Constitution after discussing with political party.
“This administration will only conduct polls and perform routine work,” said Sircar.
Citing the draft outline in the final stage, BNP Vice President Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “BNP will propose not to appoint the any political party’s chief as the head of the polls-time government.”
Another source claimed that BNP may announce the outline at at its Sept 29 rally in presence of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain.
Bangla Tribune could not verify the claim as Mirza Fakhrul said otherwise.
Asked at a media briefing on Wednesday (Sept 26), Mirza Fakhrul said, “The BNP has organised the rally to unveil next course of actions.”
