The country is undergoing in a political dark age, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“We couldn’t even observe the release day from prison of Tarique Rahman. He is the victim of government’s vindictive oppression.”
He told this at a press conference at BNP's central office at capita's Nayapaltan on Monday.
This day, on Sep 3, is the 11th releasing day from prison of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
After 11/1, Tarique Rahman was arrested on Mar 7, 2007, under the direction of the unconstitutional government of Moinuddin-Fakhruddin with false charges, he claimed.
Alleging the Awami League government is an expansion of 1/11 regime, Tarique Rahman was tortured brutally in the name of remand day after day under the current administration.
“In order to abolish the nationalist force leadership, BNP Chairperson was arrested in false and fictitious cases. Allegations that were made against them are being proved to be fabricated story”, he stressed.
Terming Tarique Rahman as the most popular leader of contemporary politics, the senior BNP leader said that he has been targeted as the victim of government’s relentless vengeance.
Referring to an ongoing horrific political unrest in the country, the BNP leader said, "Democracy has been imprisoned for the disappearances, looting, embezzlement of money and the large-scale occupation."
