The next parliamentary election will be held in due time, says Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“Election will not be halted for anyone,” the leader said.
Quader made the comments during a media call at the Sylhet Circuit House on Friday.
Nothing could be done if BNP boycotts the poll as the party failed to carry out political aspects, he said.
Talking about the using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, “We support it to hold a free and fair election.”
EVM can draw peoples’ attention towards election, he hoped.
On account of Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder’s 'Note of dissent’, the senior AL leader said that anyone may have a different perspective in a practicing democracy.
Referring to the BNP’s condition of releasing its chairperson before the poll, he said, “Those who have faith on people’s verdict don’t impose such pre-conditions.”
Even Bangabandhu didn’t impose any condition to vie in the election run-up during the state of unrest, he said adding, compare to that Bangladesh is a better place now.
