Dhaka Metropolitan Police have agreed in principal to allow BNP to hold a public rally at Naya Paltan area on Sept 1.
DMP Motijheel wing Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain told Bangla Tribune, “We agreed in principal to allow BNP to hold the rally as the party applied for it.”
We verbally conveyed the decision to the political party, he said.
Earlier on Tuesday BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a briefing said the party wanted to hold a public rally at the Suhrawardi Udyan or in front of party headquarters at capital’s Naya Paltan on the 40th foundation day on Sep 1.
He said that party leaders and activists would pay tribute to the grave of the founder of the party and former president Ziaur Rahman at 11am.
We would arrange the meeting at 3pm and a discussion meeting would be taken place on the next day at Engineer’s Institute Auditorium in Ramna.
