Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is preparing to stage strong political movements to release Khaleda Zia from jail, said party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“Khaleda Zia didn't just arrive in the political scene out of nowhere. After the killing of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia took the helm of the party and held protest against the then president HM Ershad for nine years to establish democracy in the country. The ruling political party is well aware of Khaleda Zia’s organizing capacity and it makes their prime concern,” said Fakhrul while addressing a media briefing at party’s Naya Paltan office on Tuesday.
“We want immediate release of Khaleda Zia and a fair political atmosphere for the national polls. For that we demand to restructure Election Commission and the deployment of Army during the election time,” he added.
