Police have arrested an international drug smuggler and seized five kg heroin in Dhaka.
Md Nizam, also involved in arms smuggling, was detained from Mirpur on Wednesday night.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman at a press briefing on Thursday said, we recovered the heroin based on the information he provided after his arrest.
“Nizam brought a huge heroin haul to Dhaka from India and Pakistan and he supplied it to different locations in the capital,” he said.
We are trying to identify the buyers, he added.
Nizam has been sent to the court to get its approval to interrogate him for the next 10 days.
