Junayed Hosssin Laskar alias Baharun LaskarTransport operator SP Golden Line Paribahan’s owner Md Junayed Hosssin Laskar was granted bail by a Dhaka Court in connection with a case over the death of a motorbike rider. However, bail plea for the killer-bus driver Imran Sardar was denied.

Metropolitan Magistrate Fahad Bin Amin Chowdhury passed the order upon hearing both side’s plea on Wednesday (Aug 8).

On August 3, a Golden Line Paribahan-operated bus ran over motorbike rider Saiful Islam Rana (23) amid the countrywide student protest for safer roads.

Moghbazar Police Station’s spokesperson Mahmudur Rahman told Bangla Tribune, Laskar’s lawyer pleaded for his client’s bail on the ground that his Hajj flight to Saudi Arabia is set on August 10.

On August 4, Court ordered bus driver Imran to be questioned in custody for two days while one day for Laskar on August 5.

After the Aug 3 accident, agitated locals set fire to the bus and detained the driver before handing him over to the police.

The victim Rana worked for the Dhaka Community Medical College and Hospital. Later that day, Rana’s family started a case with the police against five people, including the driver and Golden Line owner Laskar.
