Former North South university teacher Hasnat Karim who was arrested in Holey Artisan Cafe’ attack case is going to be released soon.
Anti-terrorism special tribunal judge Md Mujibor Rahman Wednesday granted a petition filed by the investigation officer to relieve him from the case.
Court sources said, Karim will be released when the relieved order reaches the jail authority.
Meanwhile, the court also accepted the charge sheet against eight militants in a case filed over the 2016 militant attack on Holey Artisan Bakery.
Earlier on Jul 23, police filed the charge sheet of the heinous attack in the Holey Artisan on Jul 1, 2016.
The name of Hasnat Karim was dropped from the charge sheet.
Police did not find any evidence against him. A total of 21 people were involved in planning and executing of the attack.
Karim was among the hostages along with his family members at the eatery on the night of the attack.
