The High Court (HC) granted a six-month bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Cumilla arson case.
An HC bench chaired by Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order on Monday.
Cumilla court fixed Aug 6 to hold hearing on the bail petition showing Khaleda Zia arrested on Jul 1, said Khaleda’s lawyer barrister AKM EhsanurRahman.
Meanwhile, Khaleda’s lawyer filed a bail petition with HC in the case.
Another hearing is being held on the petition to scrap the arson case, he added.
Eight people were killed and 20 others injured when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram of Cumilla district during the BNP-led alliance's movement on Feb 3, 2015.
Following the incidence, a case was filed under the Special Powers Act in Cumilla.
