The education ministry has instructed heads of the educational institutions across Bangladesh to convince students to leave the streets and return to classrooms.
“Institutions failing to do so will face action,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday during a meeting with principals of schools and colleges in Dhaka.
Sources said, when students took to the streets many institutions did not take measures to prevent them from demonstration.
In a wake of the student demonstration, intelligence agencies recommended the government to ensure the involvement of the guardians and the governing bodies.
Several heads of the Dhaka education institutions played no role to ensure the student’s attendance, according to the agencies.
Speaking at a view exchange meeting with principals of city’s schools and colleges, Nahid said, “You (teachers) will have to create a congenial atmosphere inside the institutions. Convince the students so that they cannot be used on rumours.”
Teachers who will fail to do so will be held accountable, he warned.
The minister asked teachers to take the help of the governing body and involve the parents in the process.
Calling the students who have been demonstrating for safer road to return home, Nahid said, “Your accomplishment will be protected. Prepare yourself further; more measure will have to be taken (in future).”
