The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the owner of the transport company over the death of motorbike rider on Friday, when he was run over by a bus at the capital’s Maghbazar.
Junayed Hosssin Laskar alias Baharun Laskar, who owns Golden Line Paribahan, was arrested from the southern district of Satkhira on Saturday, said RAB-3 Lt Col Md Emranul Hasan.
Amid the countrywide student protests for safer roads, a Golden Line Paribahan-operated bus ran over a motorbike rider on Friday.
The victim, 23-year-old Saiful Islam Rana, worked for the Dhaka Community Medical College and Hospital.
Agitated locals set fire to bus and detained the driver before handing him over to the police.
Later that day, Rana’s family started a case with the police against five people, including the driver and Golden Line owner Laskar.
