Students attack ‘unruly’ sergeantA police officer was assaulted after refusing to cooperate with protesting students and allegedly manhandling one of them. Agitating students also set his motornike on fire.

The incident was reported from Dhaka’s Science Laboratory intersection on Thursday, the fifth day of the protests.

Around 2:30pm, Sergeant Bayezid was stopped by the students, who wanted to see his driving licence, according to witnesses.
But the police officer refused as well as allegedly tried roughed up one of the protesters.
“He was not cooperating rather assaulted one of them, when the agitated students beat him up,” a witness told Bangla Tribune.

Later, protesters took him to a nearby hospital.
“Bayezid has head injuries; doctors have recommended a CT scan. Detail can be only provided after the diagnosis report comes in,” Dhaka metro police’s New Market zone Assistant Commissioner Md Sahiduzzaman told Bangla Tribune.
