Foreign Service Academy, Bangladesh organized a day-long programme to mark the onset of the ‘Mujib Shotoborsho’, Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Academy premises in the State Guest House- Sugandha on Tuesday.
The programme started in the morning by hoisting the national flag by foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen with the national anthem sung by all participants.
The event was followed by a doa mahfil, performed for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and members of his family who embraced the martyrdom in the most tragic event of the history of country as well as all the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice in the war of Liberation of Bangladesh, and for the continued peace and prosperity of the country under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A seminar on different aspects of the life of Bangabandhu participated by the foreign secretary as the Chief Guest and the Rector, Foreign Service Academy Ambassador Syed Masud Mahmood Khundoker as chair was held after cutting of a birthday cake on the occasion.
Trainee officers of the Academy and a good number of senior officers of the Academy and the foreign ministry were present.
The chief guest underscored the lifelong struggle of Bangabandhu to bring us a flying colours and his efforts for the economic emancipation of the people of the country with a dream to make Bangladesh a “Sonar Bangla”.
He in his remarks emphasised on the importance of translating the ideals of Bangabandhu into our day to day works and responsibilities towards our motherland.
The discussion program ended with a strong resolve by all the foreign service officials to uphold the legacy of Bangabandhu and earn a global recognition for everything what Bangabandhu stood for, and to uphold the image of the country to the outside world.
