The High Court has granted permanent bail to BNP chief Khaleda Zia in a defamation case filed against her in Narail.
The bench of Justice Md Abu Zafor Siddique and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin gave the order on Thursday (Mar 12).
Khaleda was sued for making derogatory remarks against martyrs of the Liberation War and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali and Barrister Kaiser Kamal stood for the BNP chairperson at the time of the hearing.
Barrister Kaiser told, on Aug 13, 2018, the High Court granted bail to Khaleda in this case and issued a rule.
On Dec 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia at a discussion in the, capital raised questions about the actual number of Liberation War martyrs and said there are “controversies over the actual number of martyrs in the Liberation War.”
On Dec 24, 2015, Raihan Farooque Imam of Narail's Naragati filed the case against Khaleda with the cognizance court.
