The hospital for infectious diseases in Mohakhali asked for a variety of equipment for Corona Isolation Unit but their requests went unanswered by the public works department.
Application was also made to separate the coronavirus chambers with Thai glass but nothing has happened as yet.
Junior consultant of the hospital, Dr. Sultan Mahmud, said: “It’s not rational to keep ten beds together because that increases the chance of contagion from one affected person; so we applied to the works department for separating the beds and got no response.”
"To ensure that people living in quarantine for 14 days manage to spend their time in comfort, we asked for TV, air conditioner, wi-fi connection and CCTV and a generator.”
Copies of the application have also been sent to secretary of the health ministry, DG of the health department, IEDCR and others.
Additional secretary of the ministry of housing and works, Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain, said: “The letter was not given to the secretary.”
