DMP’s Cyber Security and Crime Department has detained five persons for spreading false news about Coronavirus.

They were arrested on Thursday (Feb 13), confirmed cyber security deputy commissioner Nazmul Islam.

Cyber Security Department sources said: “The rumour that two persons had died of Coronavirus in Bangladesh was spread through Facebook and other portals.”

The Cyber Security Department officials said that the information that Coronavirus has spread in Bangladesh is not true but some sections are spreading this propaganda.

“Those who spread concocted news will be brought under the Digital Security Act,” said cyber crime official Nazmul Islam.
