Awami League (AL) backed councillor candidates have secured maximum offices in the Dhaka North and South City Corporation.
AL-backed candidates, who were vying for the Dhaka City councillor posts, have taken over the offices in 56 wards among 75, marking the landslide victory for the party.
AL’s 13 rebel candidates have defeated their opponents including AL-backed ones.
In the polls for reserved woman councillor posts, 17 AL-backed candidates have won.
BNP-backed candidates have managed to secure five councillor offices, while the party’s four reserved woman councillor runners have won.
Apart from the two parties, four independent candidates in reserved woman councillor polls have taken over the offices.

AL’s mayoral candidates Atiqul and Taposh have won a landslide victory.
In the North, Atiqul bagged 447,211 votes while his nearest rival BNP's Tabith fetched 264,161 votes.
Taposh pulled 424,595 votes while BNP's Ishraque Hossain followed with 236,512 votes.
According to the unofficial counts from all 1,150 polling centres in Dhaka South City polls, Taposh got 424,595 votes while his nearest rival Ishraque Hossain of BNP managed 236,512 votes.
