Voter turnout low due to lack of faith: Kamal Hossain

Voicing dissatisfaction over low voter turnout, Jatiya Oikya Front Convener Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday said voters are not coming to polling stations in Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Elections as they have no confidence in the election system.Voter turnout is low in the Dhaka City corporations polls as people no longer have faith, said Jatiya Oikya Front convener and Gano Forum chief Dr Kamal Hossain.
He made the remarks while speaking to the media after casting his vote for Dhaka Noth at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on Saturday (Feb 1).
“I myself saw that the EVM process is completed. It’s taking a long time,” he said.
He added that he has been receiving complaints of polling agents being driven out of the centres.
The 82-year-old politician faced problems while trying to match his fingerprint and had to be aided by a presiding officer to cast his vote.
