REUTERS/File PhotoThe electronic voting machines (EVMs) seem to have hit a snag at the Dhaka North in the very beginning of the polls.
Vote casting at two polling stations in Mohammadpur was delayed to a glitch on Saturday (Feb 1) morning.
Voting started at the government primary school on Nurjahan Road at 8am with the printing of the audit card showing the number votes were zero.
However, voting was delayed by 40 minutes after the paper got stuck inside the machine at the centre’s booth no-1.
“There was a technical error. The paper got stuck during printing,” Presiding Officer Imtiaz Ahmed told Bangla Tribune.
Meanwhile, at the nearby Bengal Medium High School centre, a technical glitch led to finger prints not matching.
“The main problem is with the EVMs is the finger print isn’t matching. We had to try a number of times,” said Presiding Officer Md Rezaur Rahman and added that it's taking several minutes to cast a vote.
On the other hand, voters are facing confusion as the polling booths are not matching the serial number they were given from the Election Commission.
