He made the allegation after casting his vote at Gulshan-2 and visiting several polling centres on Saturday (Feb 1).
Addressing the media at the Kalachandpur School centre, Tabith said, “The voters are not being allowed to enter the centre. Our agents are also being driven out.”
He added that he went there to ensure that voters can cast their votes and has already complained to the law enforcers there.
A Dhaka North polling centre is seen nearly devoid of votersMeanwhile, the Kalachandpur polling station is nearly devoid of voters. Although some people bearing cards with Awami League’s polls symbol boat were seen lining up, no one entered.
The BNP candidate also complained that his polling agents were not being allowed to enter Banasree Ideal School and College and Sher-e-Bangla School and College centres either.
Voting to Dhaka North and Dhaka South began at 8 am and will continue till 4 pm. For the first time, the entire election is being held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
As many as 3,010,273 people will exercise their right to franchise at Dhaka North, and 2,453,194 at the Dhaka South to elect the mayors and councillors.
