The court has indicted reported Jubo League leader and contractor Golam Kibria Shamim (GK Shamim) and seven of his associates in a case filed under the arms legislation.
Dhaka Additional Sessions Judge Robiul Alam officially started the trial with the indictment on Tuesday (Jan 28).
The other suspects are: Md Delowar Hossain, Md Morad Hossain, Md Jahidul Islam, Md Shahidul Islam, Md Kamal Hossain, Md Shamshad Hossain and Md Anisul Islam.
According to sources, all eight accused moved the court to have their names dropped from the case but were turned down.
On Oct 27, 2019, investigating officer Rapid Action Battalion-1 Sub Inspector Shekhar Chandra Mollick submitted the charge sheet in the case.
On Sept 20, 2019, RAB raided Shamim’s construction firm GK Builders office in Gulshan and seized Tk 20 million in cash, FDR cheques worth Tk 1.65 billion and an unlicensed gun.
