Khaleda’s bail extended in libel suits

The bench of justices Mohammad Abdul Hafiz and Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo gave the order on Tuesday (Jan 28).
A defamation lawsuit was filed against Khaleda in Narail on Dec 24, 2015 for her comments regarding the number of freedom fighters in the country.
A year later in 2016, she was sued in Dhaka for derogatory remarks regarding Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The High Court granted her six-month bail in the cases on Aug 13 and 14. The bails were extended once before on Feb 5, 2018.
The three-time prime minister is currently serving 17 years for her involvement in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.
