Carrying of licensed firearms has been banned for five days in Dhaka for the city corporation election slated for Feb 1.
Citizens will not able to carry their firearms from early Jan 30 to Feb 3 midnight, the home ministry said in a statement on Monday (Jan 27).
It said the order was issued in line with the Arms Act 1878 to ensure "free, fair and peaceful" polls.
Legal actions would be taken against offenders, the statement added.
