This will be presented at the classrooms of all education institutes and so students and teachers will become sensitized very soon. The Shahana cartoon will be shown at all Dakhil madrasas to raise awareness among the students on sexual harassment, violence against women, gender parity etc.
Education Minister Dipu Moni said: “Crimes against women exist in all countries and everyone is trying to eradicate this menace. To prevent harassment, we need to take a two pronged strategy: taking legal steps to ensure justice and then create a preventive system.”
As part of the preventive method, Shahana cartoon will be aired in all madrasas, said the minister adding: children learn more when lessons and values are taught through cartoons.
On Jan 11 last, the minister inaugurated the pilot class showing Shahana cartoons. Later this was disseminated through Facebook.
The minister said: “Through Shahana cartoons, we want to spread messages of gender equality all over the country. Through this, a normal and amiable relation will be formed between boys and girls.”
DG of secondary and higher secondary department, professor Dr Syed Golam Faruk, said: “This will be presented at the classrooms of all education institutes and so students and teachers will become sensitized very soon.”

The Shahana Inspiring Change was created in 2015 through UNFPA and the Swiss Embassy. The cartoons will be shown to students between class six and ten.
