A Dhaka court has indicted BNP's Dhaka South mayoral candidate Ishraq Hossain in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) that involves suppression of wealth information.
On Wednesday (Jan 15), the court of Senior Special Judge-4 framed charges against him before fixing Feb 9 for hearing witnesses' depositions.
The defence moved a motion for dropping the charges, which was turned down by the court.
In 2008, the ACC served notices on Ishraq, the son of late BNP leader and former Dhaka mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Sasking him to submit details, including the names of dependents, sources of income and other information of their wealth in seven days.
As he did not comply with the notice, the graft watchdog filed a case with Ramna Model Police Station in 2010.
Ishraq filed a petition with the High Court seeking anticipatory bail about eight years later.
Prior to that, he filed a writ petition with challenging the notices, which was rejected by the court afterwards.
