DB officer arrested over robbery allegation

Representational image The police have arrested a sub-inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch over allegations of robbing Tk 550,000.
Sub-Inspector Rashedul Alam was arrested from Narayanganj on Sunday (Jan 12).
He was produced before a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate's court on Monday (Jan 13), when investigators were granted two days to interrogate him.
According to the case dossier, on Dec 5, 2019, the plaintiff Shafiul Alam Azad along with his friend and nephew started for Madaripur with Tk 550,000.
However, when they reached Wari’s Tipu Sultan Road in Dhaka, a few men identifying themselves from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) picked them up in a car at gunpoint and took them to Munshiganj.
After reaching Munshiganj, the men tied their hands, blindfolded them took the money and valuables.
On Dec 18, Shafiul Alam filed a case with Wari police after which five people were arrested who named Sub-Inspector Alam as their accomplice in their confession.
